South African Poetry Project

For my senior year independent study as an African Studies Minor, I created a project on South African poetry. During my time studying at Stellenbosch University (2012), I conducted interviews with three local poets, attended poetry readings and slams, and began my research. I also started to write my own poetry based on that research, my experiences, the stories of friends, and my impressions of the country and its peoples. This writing and research continued into my final semester at St. Lawrence, and resulted in my South African Poetry Project (From Black and White to the Colors Between: The Transformation of South African Poetry). The poems here are selected from this project.
